Who is leading the pack?

As the first week of November comes to an end, a quick check at price performances can indicate intermediate trends ahead. The stock leading the MONTH TO DATE performances was SNP. The energy major returned 25% over the period. This compared to 10% on BET suggests that the Energy Major might continue its outperformance against the market for some time.
SNP’s positive performance was in sync with our OCT low expectations. We also mentioned about TEL, TGN and BRD (The First Five up), which returned an average of more than 10%. BRD’s marginal lower performance compared to BET continue to suggest a sectoral EARLY ECONOMIC overhang despite its sector leadership and suppressed valuations. We mentioned about BRD positivity (Why is BRD going up?) on 23 OCT. BETFI also hit our first anticipated target at 13,000, up 30% from 10,000 psychological levels seen in OCT.
A minor trend takes time to become intermediate. And an intermediate trend takes time to become primary. This anticipated upmove was of a MINOR degree and we expect it to become Intermediate. The strategy remains partial spot accumulation as its better to be patient with more price confirmation than otherwise.
